Developing new pathways for successful university to university and university to business partnerships and collaborations
E.g. The Energy Knowledge Bank, developed by UCEAO and the Ohio Board of Regents, is an online database of energy researchers, education and training programs, facilities and equipment, and energy centers and institutes.
Identifying challenges and providing recommendations for business/university collaborations and technology transfer
E.g. UCEAO issued a report and recommendations on the challenges of business/university collaborations with funding from the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority.
Aligning higher education curriculum and workforce training to the needs of established and emerging economic sectors
E.g. UCEAO coordinated university and community college participation in the National Science Foundation Partnerships for Innovation Program entitled: “An Innovation Model for a New Advanced Energy Workforce.”

Engage Research and Scholarship
Promoting high-level knowledge, problem-solving, creative thinking and technology development
E.g. In partnership with the Ohio Board of Regents, UCEAO hosted the Ohio Advanced Energy Centers of Excellence Roundtable and Showcase.
Supporting faculty and research staff in their pursuit of public and private funding
E.g. UCEAO communicates funding opportunities to member institutions and recently hosted a proposal writing workshop for extramural grants in energy science and research.

Align State and Federal Policies
Supporting the enactment and implementation of public policy initiatives that promote job growth and the development of a clean energy economy in Ohio
E.g. UCEAO was invited to testify before the Ohio House of Representative Alternative Energy Committee regional hearing in Cleveland, OH.
E.g. UCEAO supports the full and timely implementation of Senate Bill 221, including the Renewable Portfolio Standard.
E.g. UCEAO supports the Energy Efficiency Standard Endorsed POWERED Act sponsored by US Senator Sherrod Brown.
E.g. UCEAO endorsed Issue 1 for the renewal of the Third Frontier program.

Providing a collective message about energy issues from our academic institutions, government entities, industrial affiliates and partners
E.g. UCEAO hosted five successful statewide annual energy conferences, including the 2011 conference “Building and Sustaining Partnerships.”
Sharing energy generation expertise among members and Ohio organizations interested in providing solutions to the energy challenges facing our state and our nation
E.g. UCEAO has established a Shale Gas Working Group charged with developing a set of guiding principles that will direct the work of UCEAO in advocating for public policy, research, educational programming and commercialization strategies.
Demonstrating the relevancy and effectiveness of Ohio universities as the catalyst of Ohio’seconomic engine
E.g. UCEAO is launching a comprehensive communications strategy that will demonstrate successful research to market technology deployment at our member institutions.
