| Contact your school’s Challenge Champion (university/college Challenge coordinator) and inform them that you are interested in applying to the Challenge. view Challenge Champion listing |
| Identify the technology to build your application around |
| Confirm that your technology is an approved Challenge technology. A list of approved technologies is included in the eligibility criteria. If you are unsure if your technology is approved, please contact your school’s Challenge Champion. |
| Contact your school’s technology transfer office or Department of Energy licensing officer to discuss intellectual property and validate that your technology has been approved for inclusion in your Challenge application. |
| Build your team and seek cross-disciplinary team members |
October 2012 |
| Obtain your required signed letter from your school’s technology transfer office or Department of Energy licensing officer to validate that your technology has been approved for inclusion in your Challenge application. This letter will be uploaded with your application. |
| Work with your school’s Challenge Champion, entrepreneurial centers, technology transfer offices, and faculty advisors as your develop your application and 3-minute video investor pitch |

| Continue to develop your application and 3-minute video investor pitch |

| We recommend uploading and testing your 3-minute video investor pitch to avoid technical difficulties. Videos may not upload immediately on YouTube due to recording device, file size and YouTube traffic. Please plan ahead. |

| Prepare, and review, your application and all required documents for submission |
| Submit your complete application by Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 11:59 p.m. CST. |
| Semifinalist teams moving on to the Ohio Competition will be announced on Dec. 10, 2012. |
| Semifinalist teams will enter into the Ohio Mentorship Program where they will be matched with experienced entrepreneurs and technical experts. view Ohio Mentorship Program page |
| Semifinalist teams will participate on a conference call with their mentors during the week of Dec. 10, 2012. |
